Taxidermying a marron?

So I got my PB marron last night, and was hoping to mount him in my shed for future reference/admiration till I get a bigger one. How do you go about it? Does it need to be done professionally, or can you do it yourself?

i have seen my uncle do it

i have seen my uncle do it  with crays . cut out along each side of underside of tail to get the main meat out. then place the rest of the carcase on an ants mound covered over to stop the flies something like a bucket. which also stops the sun fading the color . the ants will do a decent job if there is enough of them.

might be better ways tho

Sounds good to me. Have cleaned it out as best I could and it's now out on the ant nest. Will see how it looks in a week or so. Cooked it though so I'll have to give it a paint job

Place marron on polystyrene

( set up how you want legs to sit and claws) poke in poly to keep in place.inject all joints ,tail and head with formaldehyde. Wear goggles and p2 and gloves . Do it outside . Place marron in shaded place. Leave it to dry and stiffen. Formaldehyde cures and preserves meat no smell. Week later spray marron with gloss black enamel. Joints on big marron red /brown colour. Hand paint them if you really want.once paint dry spay with another clear gloss coat. Lift marron off carefully place on your shield or board.

Will try the ant nest this

Will try the ant nest this time around. If it fails on me, I'll go the formaldehyde next year. This one was missing a claw when I pulled it in anyway so it's more an experimental piece.
