Temporary Tow Vehicle

Some of you may have read previously about our bad luck.... Still waiting to get the head gaskets replaced on the cruiser and being on holidays in Busselton had to end up hiring a car to get around. Wonder if this would tow the swifty or be better as a temporary mooring Cool

Cheers,

David

I think the boat would tow the car better than the other way around

Trailer was previous trip

Sun, 2010-02-07 20:41

Bod,
Had probs with trailer tyres last trip. Think that was when we did the head gasket as we had the dog in car and left it running with aircon on and it overheated (but did not boil over) so thought things were OK but thought wrong.
Cheers,
David

PS... Got new/second hand duel axle trailer now so if any probs still got 3 wheels LOL

that realy sux when you hit

Sun, 2010-02-07 22:16

that realy sux when you hit a snag like that. the hire car would probably tow the boat but i wouldnt want to stop in a hurry ,let alone launch and retrieve

did you manage to get someone to drop the boat in the water at all or has it just been sitting there gathering dust

hope it goes well for you when you get the cruiser back and get a couple of days wetting the line

know how you feel. we towed our boat to shark bay and first time in the water the motor was shot. 3 days later and a trip back down to perth and back with a new motor and we were off again but with 5k less in our pocket. but you make the most of it

That would really

Mon, 2010-02-08 09:15

piss me off but at least you got it sorted and back up there.

Looks like we'll be out of pocket about 2.5K plus cost of hire car :-(

Could have done it myself for about $500 but is a bit hard without the facilities and tools!!!!!!

Thanks for the offer

Mon, 2010-02-08 18:34

Thanks for the offer Dale, much appreciated. But thinking about it (at my age!!!!) who wants to spend their holidays working on a car??? Stewart at Automasters is looking after us and fitted us in at short notice due to our circumstances. Called in this morning to get the good news that it is only the gasket and no damage/corrosion to the head or block Smile.

Looking good to pick up Wednesday so should get at least one or two days out before heading home.

Cheers,

David

Mon, 2010-02-08 18:42

I would have put m hand up for that but I'm tied up with other stuff every day this week, that's what happens when you work away I guess, everything just builds up. Thought I might have Thursday off, but my new phone is coming then and I need to be at home for that. :(

Cheers

Understand what you are going through. Don't do FIFO now and still don't find time to get everything done around the place. Just booked in for a week over Easter and again for this time next year to come down and terrorise the locals again Wink
