Thanks Oceanside

Just wanted to say thanks openly to Oceanside over the weekend just been.
They took their time to help me set up for some sliding, which apart from some new toys included adding a topshot to my reel. This meant stripping all the line, applying topshot then backing, stripping it again and reversing it so I could get an exact amount with perfect reel fullness. Even kind enough to use a PR know to join the topshot. Its the little (or large) things like this that count. Now fingers crossed I can get some good fish.
PS if anyone was curious a Shimano Big Baitrunner can hold 120m of 30lb mono topshot with about 550m of 30lb braid backing. 770m of line roughly all up.

Sliding
What u planning to target if u only using 30lb to slide ? If any thing only half decent picks up that bait before its on the stopper ring u will be burnt straight off . When sliding u should be using closer to 50lb - 60lb (0.50 - 0.60)and even then if the bait is not on the stopper u have chance of getting burnt off .

Hey ragbag, Ideally targeting
Hey ragbag,
Ideally targeting mullaway with a livey. If the odd small shark comes along I might have a chance. If they are too big im hoping to get bitten off quickly.
At this stage it is more about trying to give it a go with the gear I have avaliable to me. There might be some presents at Xmas that will see me with a better chance but I will have to wait and see. (Keen to see the new saragosa in the larger sizes)
I've done quite a bit of reading but tonight will be my first attempt. If ever you're keen to teach though, I'd be keen to learn ;)

Managed to get out on
Managed to get out on Saturday up to Yanchep but there was no sliding. The weed was thick and everywhere.
Tried a couple casts with a simple rig but within 5 mins there was enough weed to drag the sinker around and also foul the bait.
It was a shame as it ended up being a nice night up there as the wind dropped of and the stars where out in full effect.
Always keen to learn so feel free to flick me a message.
