I never launched there but
I never launched there but used to get heaps out around Delambre Island Launching from Karratha. I used to anchor out at night even in relatively shallow water inside the island and get some monsters. Sharks were not a problem in the shallows either.

If you look on the charts
If you look on the charts there is some shallow banks, they have a lot of coral bombora's I used to fish the dropp off's. Otherwise sound for the sponge gardens in the deeper areas inside the island.

They're there. Looks for
They're there. Looks for filter feeder habitat (spongs, fans, ascidians etc.) and then just drift around. Winter time brings them in shallower (May -> October we catch them in 15m of water in good sizes).

The hunt for reds from Point Samson
Thanks fellas for the feedback. Sounds like I'm gonna burn a bit of fuel prospecting north of Point Samson. If anyone has some starting marks and wants to PM me I'll swap em for some Dirk Hartog marks no problem.
Cheers Tony.
