Things that are nice to have on the boat

I've got $350 worth of vouchers for my local boat shop and considering what to get. Since I've had the boat I've upgraded from my 2x Humminbird units to a Furuno 627 and HDS7, installed lights, replaced the bilge pump with an automatic one and installed a second automatic one on separate switches, installed a bait board, converted my bait well into a live tank, bought a cover, upgraded all the life jackets, flaires and EPIRB and bought a personal EPIRB and installed a complete spare hub with spare wheel.

If you had $350 to spend on whatever you liked what would it be? I am thinking deck wash and installing a set of 7" speakers to go with the current 6" ones but any other things that would be 'nice' but not essential I may not have thought of?

Deck wash would be nice

Mon, 2016-06-20 15:52

I think a good high pressure deck wash would make life easier and shorten your time at the ramp as you could wash down the bait stations etc on the way back in from your day on the water. A quick fresh water wash down at the ramp being all that is needed to get rid of the salt water from the carpet and seats. Or get some large cylume sticks and pea type whistles for each of your life jackets and attach them to the life jackets.

Yep go the deckwash one of the best things I've installed. Get the hose from bunnings and cut it a little shorter better value than the ones that come from the boat shop.

And echo his comments on the hose, Bunnings sell springy coil hose and get a good stainless hand piece....great for removing squid ink and blood from the floor and sides where fresh water seems to have less effect

 Deckwash, get one off Ebay

Mon, 2016-06-20 16:29

Deckwash, get one off Ebay $90.
$100 for bits and pieces, fit a Tpiece in suction so you can suck from a 20 of freshwater.

Freshwater is great for washdown after a swim dive or just the boat itself as it dries in 1/2 the time.

yeah it is but need to be

Mon, 2016-06-20 16:49

yeah it is but need to be very careful that it cannot siphon water back into boat accidentally.
best way is with an L port valve which means it can only be in one or the other position.

If you don't have one, get one.  Borderline a must have.  Once you've had one you won't be able to imagine life without one. Or, I like the beer idea.
