For those of you missing pots ..............

I went over to Rotto on yesterday and on the reef outside Longreach Bay, there must have been close to a hundred pots. I snorkeled over to take a look and all the pots were empty and alot of the lines were tangled up. I really doubt the pots were set there as there was a good mix of short, long, very long and very very long lines, but suspect that they might have been moved by the currents and all ended up in about the same place. So if you are missing pots, go take a look.

I can just see it, you go to
I can just see it, you go to your pots pull them up take your catch out, set them back down.
then go to some one else's pot that was tangled with your line, they rock up, and give you an ear full for pulling his pot ..... and he has no crays in his but you have a few on your boat.
Now that would be a Friday funny.

yeah saw that while we were
yeah saw that while we were over there a few days ago outside I think Geordie.
Came around the north cardinal marker and straight into a chopped off pot rope that had been set about 10 meters off the marker where every boat goes around from Longreach/Geordie and westward.
Untangled it and rang the rangers, who were happy for me to drag it over to the marker as I reckon every boat would pass over it.
So we pulled it up to the surface and moved it 20 meters-flash new wooden pot, 8 or 9 crays in it. Tempted but didnt
Yes Im fully aware of the issues with Fisheries of pulling someones pot and that the Rangers say means little. However Im also confidsent that we saved a few people from tangling or making a crash turn to avoid it-stupid place to set a pot.

The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.
