Thresher shark
Submitted by Jeffree on Mon, 2012-03-19 20:09
Just had a phone call from a mate fishing down near freo area just 5 minutes ago. He caught what he thinks is a thresher although he is unsure. he was ballooning off a freo rock groyne. He described it as having a really long whippy tail, that faught extremely hard for its size. was around 1.8m long.
My question could it possily be a thresher or are they an offshore species??
He was solo and did not have a cameara o take a pic.

Could be Jeffree not normal to be close to shore unless deepish water They do have a very large top part to tail can be very acrobatic when hooked.
Old fishermen never die they just smell that way.
