Finally ticked the last deep drop species off this list, Blue Eye. Thank Bodie for the help, great to meet you and sorry we did not get into the Bass.....they are quite elusive unfortunately but at least we got into a few other fish as well with a few radiants and pinks.
Brilliant ride out.
Brilliant day.
Bagged out with a mix of blue eye, radiant cod, pinkie and dhu.
Brilliant ride home.

Good conditions
Having a smooth sea certainly helps when you are traveling long distances.

Doing it tough mate! Looks
Doing it tough mate! Looks awesome. Courier me some fillets?
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Good to meet you mate, no
Good to meet you mate, no worries on the fish, you did well on the blue eye! We tried for the bass, and as the last pic of the sounder I sent you showed, they were likely there just didn't want to play ball unfortunately.
Conditions really were pretty bad, I mean coming home at 35 knots from being out 30 odd mile and back in an hour!
Again, nice work on the fish!!

Good Effort
Good Effort on the blue eye. Always enjoy reading your reports John. I noticed your using the SS264 50hz from your install thread. Are you using the narrow or wide and how do you find this out deep? Obviously working well for you.

The SS264 50 kHz is only
The SS264 50 kHz is only available in one beam width, 25 degrees. Its only the 200 kHz that changes between wide and narrow, I have the narrow but its not installed, another story.
Can sound to 500m although deeper than 400m is a bit sketchy unless going slow.
Bodie has the B164 (combined 50/200 in one housing), which has a narrower beam at 21 degrees (better) but slightly less sensitivity than the SS264, but it appears to get as good a sounding as mine.
I would go a B164 as it is cheaper than the SS264 and only needs one hole.

Thanks John
Thanks John. I must have been confused with he narrow / wide beam option of the 200hz. It’s good to hear from someone who's used the gear before you fork out the big bucks! Thanks for sharing your info
