tides for whiting

keen to have a go at whiting on surface lures, was hoping to bust down to mandurah early morning but have noted that morning is low tide all week. Just wondering if its a waste of time to go on low tide?

 We've found a few hours

We've found a few hours either size of the high tide on a sunny day around lunchtime to be the most productive with large numbers of fish feeding agressively (all the way into ankle deep water).  The clear ZipBaits Skinny Pop Jrn and Bassday SugarPens both fitted with ZX assists have been my most productive lures.

I've been down a few times recently in the last couple of weeks to Mandurah in the morning on the dead low tide and it's been pretty quite (just a couple of larger single fish cruising).  When the tide is dead low the weed patches the whiting like to hang around chasing prawns are exposed which makes it difficult to work the area effectively without fouling up the lure every cast.

Cheers,

Jon - Compleat Angler Nedlands

 My 2 cents worth.

i was there yesterday and the tide was low, as it was early morning and I got 11 really good size whiting plus 3 crabs in about 2 hours of mucking around with the kids. 3 of them made a very nice serve for myself with 2 enought for the kids and a couple for the father in law.

Like I said a mate told me

Like I said a mate told me where to go and did mention the time of tide that was best but we just wanted to get out and fish and walk for crabs. Do it mate you will catch them pretty easy IMHO. Blood worms are great bait as the last longer but the old coral prawn caught all mine on this occasion. Happy hunting.

one little tip you don't need the water to be very deep either, I found a shallow sandbar and fished over and around it was the most productive.

 Low tide when it first

Low tide when it first starts coming in of a few hours befor the high tide for whiting, exact opposite for flattys. Generally works for me.
