Trailcraft Specifications - Hull Depth (freestyle v trailblazer) offshore fishing

 Hi Guys/gals,

Looking at buying my 1st boat & want to do a mix of inshore & offshore fishing.

Been out with mates in a 6meter ish trailblazer very happy with the capabilities of this boat.

Due to garage storing issues etc i am looking for a freestyle 5mtr or above & want to compare the hull sides depth but cant find any specs online.

Any help would be appreciated or any feedback from anyone who has been in or owned a trailcraft freestyle.

Thanks

Hey mate, I have the 5.3 freestyle and I believe it's the exact same hull minus the cuddy cabin.

Great boat with heaps of deck space, couldn't tell u the height of the gunnels off top of my head but I'm 6"4 and there well above my knees

It goes great mate, never felt unsafe. Have taken it 40k out no problem. I fish north metro but it will be getting a good workout on the south coast soon.

Mine has a 90hp Mercury 2 stroke, top speed of 34knots with a range of about 180km to the 120l tank

Yeah got a 5.3 also. I believe the gunnel height is pretty much the same as the 6mtr + boats. Difference is in the beam. The 5.3 has only a 2.25 beam compared to 2.55 for the 6+mtr trailblazer.

Ok thanks thats perfect if the case.

Yes i found that the trailblazer has 2.55 beam compared to 2.25 on the freestyle its just my mates trailblazer sits quite hight on a trailer & almost looked like it had higher sides.

What do you use your freestyle for mainly? what conditions have you used it in etc? What size motor & brand also?

Thanks for the help.

2nd hand a lot of boats in QLD, NSW & WA would prefer VIC or SA but want to find the right boat with a min 100hp Yammy, Suzuki or Honda 4 stroke.

Unfortunately due to height in my garage i have to lose the cabin max 2.3mtrs.

The trailblazer is an upgraded model from the normal originally designed for Mal Douglas (RIP) for Kimberly work, don't quote me but I believe they also have a bigger fuel tank too. Dogs of boats in my opinion but each to their own, it'll teach you to read the weather well.

i think the sport cab was the malcom douglas edition

I think the trailblaser doesnt have a full half cab that the sport cab does. the malcom douglas came out with a hard top , 310l fuel tank and larger bait board as standard.

They slap a bit but i think it will depend on if you are able to tune it to the conditions rather than smash through at WOT. ( save some fuel and back it off a bit )

here is an older post I read a while ago.

Right you are, cheers for the correction. They seem to be bit better on the bigger swells down south rather than the short, sharp chop up here in the north west.

If you have garage height

Wed, 2015-12-09 13:39

If you have garage height issues, then look at bar crusher's. They allow you to fold down the roof, and also the front windshield which can reduce overall height to under 2.2M.

You can go up to 6.7M boat, which fits under 2.2M entrance, which is quite phenomenal.

If you have length issues however, then your buggered.

Cheers.

Boat Purchased

Sat, 2016-07-16 06:22

Just purchased a Trailcraft Freestyle 5.6mtr 2004 with a 130hp Honda 4stroke for $25k 10kms from my place... Stoked!

the overall length with trailer and motor trimmed down is 7500mm.

the height to the top of the windscreen was 2400mm but after taking off trailer & winding down jockey wheel it gets down to 2300mm.

Only been out for a test drive briefly *15-20 knot winds & 1mtr swell

1x days fishing *10 knot winds & 1mtr swell

good boat drives well a bit slappy sounding but overall it's barks more than its bite.

will keep updated looking to change prop to 15p 4blade soon.

Trailcraft Fuel Tank Upgrade

Mon, 2019-02-18 02:35

 Hey Maldon55

had to remove the 120 out & cut the floor towards the front another bay

then framed out a square meter roughly as the new tank is part of my floor now

That work wasn’t too bad it was the custom fuel tank it’s self that was the most work

redid all my fuel lines above the floor also with an inspection hatch

happy to send photos just don’t know how to post on here?

I have a 610 quintrex offshore for sale with a Honda 150 700hrs on the back that would

give trailcraft a real run for its money being the millennial hull design.
