should have all the info here.

the boat can be on or off the trailer ....you are only registering the trailer and nothing to do with any sort of load you want to carry on it.

it will need to have a compliance plate. when I registered mine the inspector provided one and stamped everything I needed there and then. was a while ago so cant really remember the cost.

Hey mate you need to take it

Hey mate you need to take it for an inspection so MAKE SURE it complies with infrastructure.gov.au/roads/vehicle_regulation/bulletin/files/VSB1_JUN2009.pdf

Once you're happy that you comply, take it to a Vehicle Inspection Centre. I went to Mindarie Workshop and Auto Electrical. They used to be on the Cnr of Hester & Marmion but have moved to Clarkson They were happy for me to leave the boat on the trailer and were much more cruisy than a couple of other inspection Nazis ive been to.

If you pass, they will issue you a Certificate of Inspection.

Then you need to go to the licensing center at Joondalup. They will want the Cert. of Inspection, your Vehicle Import Permit and in my case they also wanted an invoice showing the trailer VIN, the value (amount paid) for the trailer and also zero balance showing on the invoice. If you have boat & trailer on the one invoice make sure it has the trailer amount listed seperately and the invoice shows zero balance owed.

After you've done all that shit, pay them some money for stamp duty etc and they will give you a license plate.

Mine was an US built AUS spec trailer and came with a VIN plate which licensing centre they were happy with. I only had to get stamped rated chains welded on and add a couple of reflectors. Passed first time.

Let me know if you need anymore info...

Cheers

Stevo

Mine was us spec when i got

Wed, 2016-08-03 19:48

Mine was us spec when i got mine. I re did the light's, brakes, stamps, compliance plate, chains and hitch and mud guards.

But did it properly and all good. Had to have my trailer weighted for the compliance plate. Then took it to kelmacott for inspection with the boat on and was all good.

Pm me of you have any questions but the boys above have given you the link to the VSB which is the bible. Good luck

Yep if tou havent already got it you will need a tare weight of trailer. Meaning taking boat off and down to weigh bridge.

Did a US imported AU standard trailer last week. Still needed afew things changed to comply, side marker lights are the common problem. Never in the correct places . As mentioned correct for size of trailer stamped rated chain welded on.

Stamped,rated chains WELDED on

I'd love to talk to the numpties who decided that rated chain was required for this--they are aware that welding of anything load rated destroys the rating, aren't they? Thought not.
