Transducer?

Hey fellas just seeking some advice on a new transducer. I use furuno 588 with p66 in the say 40 - 70m with good results but looking to head wider to the 2 - 300 m shelf. Will be transom mount so what type and a fair estimate of $$ I should expect.also should I still use the p66 for the shallower fishing. Cheers

What's the budget and what sort of boat ? I don't think you can go a 1kw without adding the extra box on the 588.

TM260 is the most common and covers most bases.
I have a B164 drilled through the hull and it's does ok.

Well then I recommend getting a simrad nss evo2, the biggest screen size you can afford and a through hull transducer that can do both high and low frequencies, preferably in chirp.

I haven't looked lately but I am guessing about the $8k mark for a 12inch screen and tranny.

not justify or make worthy the 295.

295 shines with 2kw transducer.

I would go through hull. I have just put SS175H and SS175L in with a fcv295. Great combination. Also used QME fairing spacers which are a lot better quality than the ones supplied by airmar

Cheers for your opinions fellas.keeping 588 as its coming out of my old boat and head unit is only a year old. How robust are the through hull tranny ? I often touch bottom crossing bars to get into the ocean so would this be an issue?
