Transducer questions

So I am about to upgrade my lowrance to a NSS9 system,
The question have is can i run the Simrad TM265LH 1kw chirp transducer on its own of do i need the BSM module as well? I have absolutely no idea about this techy stuff!

I run my 600W chirp straight
I run my 600W chirp straight to my Evo2 and reads awesome however ive been told if I want to upgrade to the 1kw Chirp you will need a BSM.
Maybe have a google on theHullTruth forum, plenty of electronics guru's on there.

It will work but not to its full potential . From memory the head unit only puts out 250w rms . But im told power output is not the be all and end all with chirp gear.
