I think it has taken everyone by suprise.
The charge is 5 weeks reduced to 3 if he pleads guilty which he f@*#ing is so of course he will. Why knock off 2 weeks for agreeing to something that is blatantly obvious? Does a tribunal hearing cost that much and what care do they give about the well-being of players on the receiving end of such blatant irresponsible action? The guy gets a broken jaw. Everyone shrugs their shoulders and treats as just another minor indescretion. Go figure.
I don't care what anyone says, corruption exists in AFL.

5 year clean record and a guilty plea equates to a 2 week discount on the initial 5 week suspension. Sounds fair to me.
Shuey's becoming a bit of an habitual offender, didn't he apologise to the WCE playing group earlier this year over a similar indiscretion. Needs to eliminate that from his game at the 'serious' end of the season, any little thing will see him go now due to his poor record.

Yep the whole guilty plea reduction is a load of shit. I believe the player should be rubbed for as long as the player he injures is out of action-surely that is only fair-but we all know not all in the afl is fair,if it was freo and the eagles wouldn't be playing in tasmania every year,but thats a subject for a whole new thread.

Listening to ABC Sports talk
on the weekend, and they outlined the offense fantastically. Basically the panel thought 6 weeks because it ticked all the wrong boxes for an offense. Thats what I suspected after seeing it.

I'm all for truth in sentencing, you get 5 you do 5.
But then if your a repeat offender a loading should be applied to subsequent penalties.

Your comment about Luke Shoey or however you spell it is right. I didn't see the incident so I can't comment. I am however disappointed as we have some critical games coming up. My blood still boils however over the Wellingham decision. It was a dumb indescretion and he should know better regardless of his record. The ABC team had it spot on in that he ticked all the wrong boxes and gets off with next to nothing other than a brief rest.
So what's the fallout from the Saints and Essendon? A huge all-in there after what seems to be a fairly ugly incident. Are those sides going to suffer also or was all the focus this week on the big guns?

It's about what is right and what is wrong. You admit Wellingham had a brain faid. So he should do some real time and not just get a slap on the wrist. My feeling is that there are some serious discussions behind the scenes and it's all a matter of who holds those discussions IMO. As I said before mate, what is the fallout from the Bombers and the Saints? That got pretty ugly.
As for the suck it up issue you should be careful LOL. The season is hotting up and it's anybody's ball game from here.

are you for real. have a good look at it. not once during the incident did he try not to take him out. he didnt even do the usual and act as if he was trying to protect himself. Nor did he have any intention on marking the ball let alone making an attempt to touch it. he should not have been offered the 2 weeks reduction for this act. no matter how good his record was. It was intentional and a brain fade is not an excuse.
Disgraceful decision by the tribunal on this one.

Collingwood knew how good a deal they got thats why the only took a couple of hours to accept the penalty. I've seen players get off tripping charges that were a lot worse than lynch's. I'm glad the Eagles are contesting it although i think the got no chance of getting it overturned. Watched the wellingham shirtfont again a few times last night and not once did he look at the ball.....

The Wellingham decision is a disgrace - I instantly thought 5-6 when I saw it.
They should set the 5 weeks as a MINIMUM penalty and INCREASE it if they have a bad record - not reduce it if they plead guilty / first offence.
What difference does it make to Simpson whether he pleaded guilty or not ??? - he got lined up and taken our in a gutless hit and the poor bastard is far worse off than the offender.

Hardwick needs to stick to what he is paid for and that is to coach Richmond. Glen Archer is hardly in a position to talk about unfair play. He was a rough nut himself. Shuey will serve his time and hopefully this time he will clean things up a bit. Personally, I know what a kick in the nuts feels like and it's not something you just get up and run away from like Thomas did. I have no doubt at all that he staged or exagerated the incident albait the whole thing didn't look that flash. All in all to get 1 week less than Wellingham is a joke.

There are certainly no tears on this side. The debate has been about equality in sentencing and certain aspects of staging. The Darling issue was a one-off and something you guys who have nothing better to crow about will pick up on. The issue of ducking came about when NM got flogged here in Perth and the good old Vics decided to find an excuse to try to crack the Eagles game. Well, sorry sookie but as it turns out all that Victorian lobbying has diverted the focus on fairness and as I have said before in this thread, the system is becoming more corrupt.
Having said all of that of course I digress back to the real issue and that is how the latter part of the season will pan out. My prediction is that the Eagles are still the real deal and will be there at the end. Every season is the same, excuses, excuses. It all depends on how your side is travelling and how knowledgable you really are about the game.

I get to go to a lot of games and see what i see. The journos are there to make a quid and a story. It all depends on who they are rooting for IMO or who is paying them. Go back a few years and it was biffo. Look at the Hawks, they ruled in those days. Brisbane did the same thing and the Dorkers tried that for a while successfully until the bulls got a bit old and sent to the knackers yard.

When has the system been fair....
The MRP is independent of the AFL and make their decisions based on what they see, hear & have reported to them by the umpires and argued by the various clud advocates/ lawyers.
Fairness equates to a level playing field - how is it that sme teams travel more than others. How is it that some teams play multiple away matches at a venue that is also their home ground. Teams have bought into this competition knowing full well what they were getting themselves in for. The current system is not fair - thats that.
BTW - Look at the entire context of Wellingham's situation when hitting Simpson. He had jumped in the air in an attempt to be first to the ball to take the mark. Don't just look at the collsion - yes it's ugly look at what led to the situation unfolding in the first place. I don't agree with the MRP decision of clean sheet - reduced sentence, but they're not using my rules.
Shuey is a good player who needs to learn not to engage in stupid decision making that allows him to be taken out of the team unless injured - thats youth for you!
