Trigg Tailor

Went down to Sth Trigg last night to brave the cold and chuck in a line. First tailor was caught at 9pm and was a nice fish , around 70cm, which is a PB for me !!

Second fish 10 pm , a slightly dissapointing 55cm.  Nice to come home with a feed and only 5 mins from home. Sweeet.

Dunno what the go is with the second pic. They look like a couple of nice bream tho.!

I was using a paternoster rig , 50lb braid tied directly to a metre of 60 lb leader down to a star sinker.Half way down was a dropper loop about 30cm long to 4/0 gangs. No swivels involved (less breaking points) Then on with the trusty mulie, tail snipped.

There was a deep gully only 50m out , the larger waves were breaking out behind, then quickly dying out and slowly reforming but not breaking again till close to shore.

Classic gutter situation .

It was my iphone that turned em into bream.  They still look like tailor on the PC   :)

My previous PB was 60cm up around Cervantes , so stoked to get that one down the road from home.

Going back to the same spot tomorrow nite to try beat it! Don't know if I can but it's not gonna happen sitting on the couch at home right?

Tomorrow night...

Sat, 2013-07-20 17:20

If anyone wants to join me, send me a pm. Would be cool to hang out with one of the regulars here on Fishwrecked. I will probably learn a trick or 2 as I still consider myself a bit of a novice. Then again with a 70cm tailor maybe I have graduated to the big league haha.

 Solid tailor Squidring, well

Solid tailor Squidring, well done. Under normal circumstances I'd be all over a beach session tonight but I've just pulled a very unproductive overnighter up the coast a bit & can't really be stuffed. Going to watch australia lose this test match instead.

Haha, that just goes to show how tired I am, I don't even know what day it is apparently. Fair chance I'd be up for it tommorow night, I'll have to see what the department of war & finance has to say about it first. I'll send you a pm in the morning to let you know if I can get out or not.

Cheers.

Nice fish mate, well done. I'm at trigg now having a look, trying to find a good spot. Bloody surfers everywhere.

There's a hole about 20m

Wed, 2013-07-31 19:16

There's a hole about 20m south of the big rock outcrop there, throw a mulie in & around there. Failing that head about 150m south along the beach & start looking for a good gutter to fish.

The spots...

Thu, 2013-08-01 10:45

If fishing the hole immediately left of the rock, beware of the ledge running along the shoreline. Rod tip high and crank sinkers in over the ledge.

However down from the small kiosk at the Sth trigg carpark ( not the Kailis cafe ) there is a stand alone lump of reef offshore, and often a hole or gutter close by. Usually less populated and the surfers tend to thin out around sunset, but ensure your line and leader are strong enough in case you hook one.

Just kidding. I would probably be one of them if I could surf.
