Trip to Taupo NZ
Submitted by hector0909 on Tue, 2013-09-17 17:42
Hi all, I am looking at putting together a group of 4 (to save costs on accomodation, transport and guide's fees to gain access private land) to go trout fishing in Taupo NZ in March / April next year.
Any takers to join?

The costs roughly for a five
The costs roughly for a five day trip to Taupo is $1,600.
It includes return flights, a guide for two days (can be reduced to two half days if money is an issue), a charter boat on the lake for half a day (can also be dumped if the fly fishing is good), mid range accomodation and a 4x4 rental from Auckland to drive to Taupo (3.5hour drive). Food and fuel will be extra.
A cheaper option will be Tasmania, but I have been to Taupo about 4 times, and each time was better than the last. The first time the Mrs outfished me in numbers and size. She caught an 8 pound rainbow on the lake. That record must be corrected....

Go Taupo, its a beautiful
Go Taupo, its a beautiful area and while there might as well make time to go to Mt Ruapehu and up the chairlift as its only an hour or so away.
So much to see there, mudpools, geysers, mountains, active volcanos (Mt Tongariro erupted last year when we were there)
Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face...
The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.
Everyone's just winging it.

Early next year to finalise. Putting the plan in action whilst my leave pass is still fresh...
Seven days will not be an issue, costs will go up by about $250.
