Tuffwinch Reviews

 Hi

Looking at Drum Anchor Winches for my Leeder 710. Came across Tuffwinch, look good, price is good, but can't find any reviews.

Can anyone give me their opinion?

Cheers

 G'day

I installed one in our last boat (600C Northbank).  It was a TW300.  I had no problems and found the guy good to deal with.  I bought one of the first and got a great price.  It was put together well enough, though I didn't like the idea of the bearing being welded to the shaft and the drums sides didn't run quite true but good enough.   I ended up grinding off the bearing, fitting a new one.  Though in the end I don't think it was actually a problem.    Had no other issues with it at all

For an extra couple of hundred bucks I would get a Mick's winch, nothing in that price bracket is in the same league regarding quality

I got a good incite when our current Stress Free motor failed and corrosion was a BIG issue, an absolute mongrel to get apart.  I took it to Mick's workshop and he fitted one of his motors.  He was going to pull the gearbox apart and check it out but bolts corroded, seems ok though.    I got to see the difference in attention to detail and was impressed.  Highly rated and used by many boaters and charters here in SA.

Cheers

i may be wrong but I'd put a carton on it that tuff winch is the same guy that made tuff tackle reels.

he was quite vocal back in the day saying he was working on something every boat should have, then these came out.
