There are heaps of people
There are heaps of people that know where the good fish are but they are not going to tell you.... GPS co-ordinates are like ATM pin numbers you dont tell anyone. I bought a boat about 1.5 years ago now and I have spent or should I say wasted $1000's of dollars in fuel and bait getting out there and trying to find some good ground and just like you I only caught wrasse...still do occassionally... Wrasse can mean your in a weedy area which means no demersals...catch whiting/flathead your probably on sandy patches...catch snapper/dhuie/baldies you have found some reef/coral/structure which is where these fish and other good ones tend tend to hang around.. I am definitely no expert all I can say to you is keep reeading this forum (I do religiously) research what type of fish you want to catch i.e. tuna/mackies or bottom dwellers?? and try to get good at targeting them... find out what kind of bait or lures are best (people usually share this kind of info) Buy some books on how to read and understand what your sounder is telling you and start hunting for your own good ground... persistance is the key... no-one becomes a good fisherman overnight and even though some people land good fish straight away It's probably sheer luck or they are out with someone that knows exactly what they are doing.... Goodluck anyways.
