Can you believe that fuel consumption?
I use similar fuel to what they quote (from the combined motors) with a single 250HP 4 stroke, and my boat is probably half the weight.

hmm - call me a young old schooler... getting 300hp out of a 3.4 litre V6 suggests that your not going to get much longevity out of that engine!

in my experience with boats, everything has a reduced life expectancy.... as I said im a bit of an old schooler :-) I will stick with my larger cubic inches and enjoy these lower diesel prices whilst they last :-)

Haven't seen many 1ltr
Haven't seen many 1ltr sports bikes for sale with 300,000ks either though, and definitely not any 2 strokes
Having said that though, it definitely isn't simply displacement that means it wears quicker.
Journal size for example or piston speed is more of a factor.
A short stroke engine will have a slower piston speed etc for the same rpm for example
Just personally not interested in a 2 stroke no matter how good the marketing dept says it is

Two stroke
Don't forget it's a two stoke - it should make more power per litre of capacity than a four stroke.

Its actually somewhat of a fallacy, that some say that a 2 stroke should and could produce double the power.
While it does certainly have double the power strokes per revolution, the power stroke itself is actually shorter due to the exhaust itself.
For example a 2 stroke exhaust port may typically open at say 90 deg (3 oclock) which is the end of the power stroke but a 4 stroke exhaust valve may open at maybe 130 degrees (5 oclock), straight away the power stroke is actually 50% longer on the 4 stroke.

I didn't say it should produce double the power, just more. Of course there are a lot of variables.
The concept of two strokes having much shorter strokes than four strokes is definitely a fallacy these days. Part of the reason four strokes have improved in the last decade is the development of over-square, short stroke designs that allow higher power outputs by virtue of higher rev ceilings. The previous Yamaha 250 3.3l has a stroke that is only 4mm longer than the G2 Etec 250.

On a two stroke, the exh port typically opens at around 90 degs meaning the power stroke ends when the piston is halfway down the power stroke.
A 4 stroke exhaust valve opens at around 130 degrees or so, the period of firing pressure being about 50% longer than on a 2 stroke.
Not being smart, but you may need to look at a two stroke firing diagram to see what I mean.

Understood what you were getting at, and it is correct.
What I wrote also stands though - there are modern four strokes with huge oversquare dimensions, and piston strokes down around 50mm. The generalisation that four strokes have long strokes compared to two strokes no longer holds true, regardless of whether you are talking about physical stroke or effective power stroke.

If a 2 stroke and 4 stroke are both say square for example (70 x 70), it simply isnt possible for the 2 stroke to have the same effective power stroke because the exhaust port MUST open before the inlet does.Hence in the example above the 2 stroke might produce power for only 35mm of the power stroke where the 4 stroke will go maybe 55 or 60?
Doesnt matter, its just a technical point.

I am getting 40 L per hour out of my 250 HP Suzuki so I think their comparison is not too bad bsir

115A Yamaha
My model is the oldest yamaha and i still get around 13 litres an hour on a 5.8 metre weterberg. Or 2.3/2.5 kilometers per litre. If you prop them correctly you can achieve improved performance. Running a 19 inch prop helps as i do lots of K's per trip.
