Two rocks saturday/sunday Rotto Tuesday

quick report

fished two rocks, the demercals made us work hard for them, but still managed a few dhues and a pink all on jigs....headed into the three mile picked up a mackie as well...

got a horse of a sambo on PE2 blake reckons 35kg im saying somewhere between 30-35kg...

Hit up rotto tuesday for a quick mackie run, had a friend out who had never been on a boat before, got to my area. bait everywhere lures out, 20 minutes later bang we are on, right on cue with the tides etc etc.....handed the rot to a mate, the fished started running at us he didnt know what to do , i was yelling real real real (was pulling in the teasers) and managed to loose the fish and the best of it all, had to turn to go home due to him being seas sick!

Oh well.....The two rocks mack was my first since january (where we had a triple hook up), and there here in numbers south of two rocks.that confirmed thanks to my diver friends.... just gotta know where.

Unlucky with the mate and his seasickness! Seems to be a crazy amount of bait around at the moment. never seen so many birds working off Cape Naturaliste last weekend. Free jumping mackies too!

Nice work - is that a Lamble

Thu, 2013-03-07 12:11

Nice work - is that a Lamble F2? Or one of the knockoffs? (and if the latter how do they go?)

Lost a brand new F2 on the first drop on the weekend :-(

You are a kind skipper going back in for sea sickness. If a deckie gets sick then the fishing still goes on! haha unless the deckie is the mrs, then an exception is made.

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

sounds like you had some fun out there. as far as seasickness goes, if anyone came out on our boat and they werent sure about seasickness a travacalm went down the hatch. fishing doesnt stop for the burley makers.

 Your doing better then me

Thu, 2013-03-07 13:26

Your doing better then me with the mackies then, having a smaller boat is keeping me restricted to chasing them on the 3mile without much to show yet this season, I'll get one eventually!

1. your not fishing the

Fri, 2013-03-08 13:08

1. your not fishing the tides.. that is the key to all of it. the 2 hours before the ride of the high tide.

2. take in on others advice but dont live by it. persistance is your key. Last year i tried honestly every weekend for at least 4 hours a boat session troliing for these guys and it took me 6 weeks to land the first one. by the time the end of april hit i had boated 24 macks in the space of roughly the same time 6 weeks with one session landed something like 11-13 i cant remember i would have to go over my notes. you will find a pattern starts forming and thats all im saying.

3. i hope your running teasers

4. wouldnt bother anchoring and burleying

5. look for current lines off the three mile, work the baits, foucs on your sounder and find the bait balls .

6 work the back edge of the 3 mile and dont hesitate to go inside or further back into the 30s

the water of mindarie last saturday just screamed macks and then it complete changed the next day.

Excellent advice Terboz

Mon, 2013-03-11 02:09

Excellent advice Terboz thanks for sharing, might just try once again to get myself a mackie... Did similar to what you said last year, chased them every weekend with not one landed whilst everyone else was throwing them back! I tried 2mtr divers and 7mtr divers and saw bait balls everywhere and went right through the middle occasionally... Guess I need a teaser... and a bit of luck.

full pattern?

Mon, 2013-03-11 13:37

Do you fellas find it necessary to run a full pattern or is a couple of bibbed minnows and a witchdoctor ok?

If so, do you use any skirts?
