Unbelievable Day on the water!!!!!!

I'm going to let Kasey tell you what happened. Just let me say, perhaps the greatest capture from my boat in 6 years.
Lots of photos and even better, some killer video footage. Kasey is one very happy camper!!!!!
Cheers

No chance
He studied the article before he came onboard. Not that that stopped him from outfishing me on the day.... cheeky bugger.
He was a tpo class deckie on the day even if I had to pull the sea anchor in more than once.
Great capture, I don't want to steal his thunder when you see the pics. I dare say there is a cover shot in amongst them for sure.
He said his computer at home is shot, so it may be Monday/Tuesday before we see the pics.

The suspense is...............#$@^%&*
I just hope we're not being lead up the creek and that the final result will be as good at the anticipation. C'mon Kasey get ya act together. Incidentally a word springs to mind for a person like you Andy but because there are kids on this site I'll refrain myself until I see you for our next beer.

hi all, just jumped on a mate's computer. Cheeky bugger Andy... :P But thanks very very much.
Twas a fantastic day, will certainly rate up up up there.
Still maintain that I did not outfish the skipper, as your tally must be at least 3 times mine, including the sea sweep and footballer sweep and sargeant bakers.
(btw, sorry, in my excitement and rush to go home, I forgot to account for fuel. I remember)
Thanks again. Photos will come when the computer is fixed. They are great shots too dude.
Disclaimer: it was too big to be released. I had every intention to release him, but really, there was no way the release weight would have got him down. Lifted him in for a couple of pics, put him back in the water, and well, based on the circumstances, if we did, by the time we fashioned a big enough release weight on the spot, the chances of him surviving were very slim, as he wasn't kicking. I took the decision that I'd rather take as much meat off him as I could, and donate the frames for aging (thanks to andy), than shoot a dead fish back down to become shark fodder. My choice based on being there and then, those who know me will know I am no meat fisherman, so let there be no concerns raised about this matter.

Hey, looks like we have a winner. 24kg, so close enough a call Shag, without even seeing the photos.
Got him on a 120g jig which has now been retired for good I think, PE4 line and 60lb flourocarbon leader. Very lucky to hook him too, got him on the nostril with the first assist hook, and the second was just hanging onto its upper jaw, not even stuck in, as it couldn't penetrate the bone.
Fought like a sambo except the last 10m. Can't wait to see the video, as Andy caught it all on tape.
Thanks again dude.

Busted scales!!!
We were giggling like a couple of school kids all day after that one came aboard.
There was only one downer on the day and that was a boat that mussled in on our drift line, then as we were dispatching the dhuie came over to our boat and the first words out of the guys mouth was "Our GPS is buggered we are just drifting around...... how big was that dhuie you just caught?"
Obviously he had pinged the spot and tried to cover it up, then followed me to the next lump and set up a drift 100m away over featureless sand so he would eventually go over whatever ground I was fishing........not happy Jan!!!
Apart from that it was a great day!
Well done Kasey!!!

Andy, we had the same
Andy, we had the same problem on a number of spots. We were fishing and 2 boats, came within 40m of us, pinged it on their GPS and buggered off, i think that is one of the most annoying things.
People work hard to find their spots and pricks like that come along. Not on

hi john
hi john,
i guess you can tell from those short vids andy put up i lost the plot and went nuts, not caring that the camera was on. can't remember if i started dancing too. i only remember seeing somethign long (later measured at 105cm) and white start to come up, i said hmm, ok a sambo, but mr. mac was saying dhuie dhuie at least a 20kg dhuie from the way its floating i said no way look how long it is, can't be a dhuie they don't grow that long, then its back breaks the surface and i see it and then i don't remember what i did or said after that.
hope you guys get to share the joy of my experience too when the video goes up.
p.s. i'll come see you sometime this week.

big dhu
Yeah you gotta hate the guys who - even though there is whole ocean out there, decide to come and sit right on your hammer to pinch your spots :X
Now for the fish, well done guys - sounds like an absolute monster and to be on a jig is even better. Cant wait for the photos of this one and the vid aswell. I admire that the thought was there to release it also - even though it didnt get there is is great that you did think of it.
I know what you mean about the big ones fighting like dhuies KayC, the one I got did exactly the same to me and it wasnt until 5m below the surface when I finally saw the colour that I worked it out. And by the way - I did do a dance :>
Well done to both angler and master skipper
