Ring up the licensing dept

Ring up the licensing dept and check with them about a temporary permit to transport. It lasts 48hrs from memory.

Get the trailer registerd though , just in case you get in a prang and insurance companies will take you to the cleaners.

Does the new tub have a HIN ?

When you go to register the boat in your name the dept of transport will want a HIN.
Make sure it has one.

Also i think the temp permit only allows you to travel from point a), to a registerd mechanic who will then check the trialer out before allowing it to be licensed.

Temp Permit

Phone Dept Transport 131156. Give them the trailer ID/VIN (either stamped on draw bar or an ally plate - or old rego # if you can get it), ask for a permit to drive it from seller location to home for "repairs", pay with credit card and you have a permit. If it has a boat on it it won't matter.

Or you can go to a Dept Transport Office - phone is easier.

Another word of advise!!!!

Mon, 2010-12-13 22:16

Don't disregard the advise given above. As some recent ads on TV have mentioned.... "Take the back streets AND you will get caught".

Not sure if you would try the wrong thing but don't risk it!
