Video Camera

I want to buy a video camera before I go on the trip to exmouth. Will be using it on the boat and for other family events. I have never owned a video camera so really have no idea what to look for in a good video camera. Does anyone know any good brands, prices, What to look for in a camera etc. Any input would be great. Thanks

What are you going to use it for?
At the moment the prices of high definition video camera are coming down a fair bit. I bought a Sony dcr-220 for $880 about 10 months ago, a mate just picked up a canon hg-11 HD for $1500 and the quality of footage is awesome. The problem is that it is hugely processer intensive for your computer, so if you want to edit it, you will need a sh*t hot computer. (well, a lot of memory) If you just plan to put it to your tv, then shouldn't be too much of a drama. Also just be wary of the cost of memory cards for certain models, some certainly aren't cheap and boost the price of the whole unit significantly!!

Thanks adam yeh will want to edit the footage on the computer. Will be making fishing videos out on the boat and dvd's of holidays and stuff. Going to try and get 1 before I head up to exmouth and after that I'm off to cairns for a holiday
So many fishing spots. Not enough sickies!!!!!!!
