...one more hour of screaming sea breeze during summer Seriously, how many of you are going to go out in a boat after work simply because of an extra hour of daylight? I'll say it again...SCREAMING SEABREEZE! Better to have the extra hour in the morning, when it's more likely to be calmer, and you can blow off work completely!
if it comes in thats good if it doesnt thats good too ....The sooner all the bullshit is over the better.I mean this crap is crazy. People running around complaining that a tick means yes and a cross is invalid, simple write YES or NO and get on with life ..The other one is that the ads in the paper is bias toward the yes vote because it comes first in the sentence i mean seriously people ...if you ask a question do you say it( Do you want to go for a fish no or yes)No you say(would you like to go for a fish yes or no) I am voting Yes so there will be less shaved legged, lycra wearing and riding in the middle of the road idiots on push bikes in the morning on the way to work..Real men ride dirt bikes in shorts ,wife beater singlets and thongs ..oh my did i just say that out loud.
Does that get disqualified for the vote? I know rules are strict but I didnt think this was Zimbabwe.
If we didn't mess with time we wouldn't have this problem and my wife would be able to walk the dog in the morning. Last time she did it in the dark she fell and looked mighty bashed up after..
YES!!! i like the fact I get home from work and still have day light to walk my dog or go for a run/exercise out side. Not to mention when I have to deal with an east coast supplier their not shut at 2pm in the arvo! This whole yes/no argument is ridiculous the government should grow some balls and make a decision.
It's a yes from me, purely for my own selfish reasons as I'm not a morning person and would use the extra hour in the arvo.
It amazes me how passionate people get over this subject. The clowns that today tonight and ACA somehow manage to track down seriously need to take a step back and look at themselves. Getting dressed up in a "NO" shirt or "YES" shirt and yelling at each other to get their point across, I mean seriously! I bet they aren't that passionate when it comes to something important, like, umm... kitchen sponges and all the diseases they carry... or something.
yes men - i had such fun getting up all summer at 5am, driving an hour to work then being able to do bugger all until there was enough light. This has twice been voted out and is on the books again because a couple of self important lower than a snakes guts pollys ( including a speccy dummy spitter ) thought the public were unable to make decisions for themselves. Democracy? Suuure! Lets see you agree with these slimeballs when they arbitrarily ban fishing.
Definately a big Yes from me and the missus. More daylight after work to enjoy time with the kids and once they are in bed there is still enough time for us to do stuff outside with the sun up. Plus I can fish for four/five hours after work before it gets dark. A really big YES.
no no no no daylight savings eat bulk sh%$ leave the hours the same it proves absolutly nothing the seabreeze still comes in during work hours and with daylight savings ya cant go have a throw before work because its to dark what a crap idea!!!!
brenz
No No No - sunset @ 8.30 - 9pm means your fishing till midnight when you would normally be home @ 9 or ten, still time to give the missus a length before she flakes it. When you come home with no fish, no sex makes the night pretty shitty.
I'm just over all the crap that goes with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't we vote political parties into power to make the decision for us during their term. What they all need to do is grow a set of balls and make a decision and stand by it,it may be committing political suicide but this whole thing is a waste of OUR money. When things are not at their best money wise they should be spending in other areas.
Personally I like the extra daylight in the arvo but if I don't get it so be it.
Great for arvo fishing and chasing squid.
Also it is hard to do business with places over east without it. Without it come 2pm over here and thats the deadline for doin business with the east.
Fishing isn't a matter of life or death, it's much more serious than that!!!
What I would like to know is if YES gets thru in 5 or 10 years time do we get to vote again incase we all don't want it or will it just be accepted as we all want it all the time, I wonder if they will have a 3 year trial on no daylight savings .
BTW I allready voted NO in a postal vote.
I see the papers and TV are all runing the YES vote up the flag pole and don't give any air time to anyone against DLS.
Yep, agree there Mav the media is extremely biased towards yes voters. I'm pissed with the government that we need to have another vote when it's already been voted against in the past on more than occasion.... I guess they'll just keep having a vote until they get the result they want, what a bunch of knobs.
Can't say I have noticed a big Yes campaign, though while watching snippets of that (so called) debate they had on Today Tonight the other day I couldn't help but think it was biased towards the NO campaign as every "expert" from the USA they trotted out was dead against DLS for economic and environmental reasons. They didn't have anyone presenting an opposing view to balance it out. (though I admit I wasn't all that interested in it and could have missed a "YES" biased expert.)
Just an observation not a judgement, or indication of where I sit on the subject.
....I've seen, both here in a previous thread and in several of the papers, is that younger people, who didn't have a chance to vote in previous referendums, are leaning towards 'Yes'.
With this in mind, does anybody really believe that there will be any more referendums if DLS gets in? Many of those same young people will have small children of their own in 5 or 10 years' time, and their feelings about having the extra hour of daylight in the evening may be very different. But very doubtful that they will ever have another chance to vote on it again. Of course, what am I crapping on about...I was young once too and could care less about the future then!
End of the day, I find it amusing that we keep having referendums on the same issue (four and counting) when it would be more productive to have them on other stuff as well, like whether pollies can have a pay rise or can more money be used for road repair or should we have a new boat ramp in a certain spot...it's not very democratic when the issues to vote on are decided for us.
im sick of the crap about not being able to get kids to bed ( just buy some damm curtains) have to deal with the east without daylight saving in summer is a nightmare. Alot more people are active after work with daylight savings and just the health benifits alone are worth the yes vote. Will be really disapointed if once again WA chooses to remain in the dark ages its about time we caught up with the rest of the nation instead of acting likes its still the 70's Wa is so far behind the times on so many issues it would be a pleaseant change to have this issue sorted so we can move onto others:)
What a waste of money to vote NO again for me im not really that bothered about it but no suits me and my family better and would be nice if the govt actually listened to us and saved our money on re running old arguements to take the heat off some politicians who are in the shit and need something to side track us hence the daylight savings debate again (what savings its already cost us millions just for the campaigne)
yes only if it finishes in febuary, and all those buisness people should try getting up earlier, cos in march its still dark at 7 in the morning,if this doesnt happen ,i will say no,very dangerous 4 us building workers,in the dark
it makes no diff. to your life anyway....you are still going to do the same things at the same time regardless if it is light or dark..........ive heard the best excuses....curtains fading , cows not milking , not being able to send the kids to bed ( we're the parents and thats why they kids...we're the boss and besides CLOSE YA EYES its dark when you do that) and to think how much money was spent on this bulls#$t just so a few people can say yes or no.... .... i believe there are more important things to worry about in this world than the clock being moved an hour..............but imo WHO GIVES A RATSARSE!!!!!!!!!!

To quote John Clark "That was a rock solid.......waste of time'
It was was always going to be about how it's suites each individual's life style and there's no right or wrong answer - just what the majority (have) vote(d).
1558 comments on the Perth NOW website for heaven's sake. Interesting to read some of the comments in here, but I'm as bored as bat sh*t over all the letters in the Worst Australian, T Shirts, etc etc. We have much more (any) important issues.
I too pre-voted (NO) because I was oncall this weekend and thought I might not get a chance (Prevoting in Albany was at the Court House - so that was handy! ).
Turned out I was right - was called out yesterday morning and afternoon - worked from 0700 to 1200 then out again from 1630 (yesterday) to 1200 today straight (zzzzzzz!). So ......what daylight!?

how great I don't have to keep resetting the sun dial twice a year. As the time was evidentlly set by the location of the sun and in conjunction with the time line.
Good to see no got through as we have to put events back and hour here(because it is still above 40'C + at the earlier time).
Have worked where daylight saving was advantagous and low and behold we started work an hour earlier when we wanted to and left an hour earlier. Oh so difficult to do.
We do have choices, it's how we elect to use them. Dictation as we have done over the past three years is not the option.
Just my thoughts on the matter.
Wishin I was fishin and only 500k's to the water..

Horah!
It's over with, or at least lets hope so - lets spend the money where it's now needed.
To quote John Clark "That was a rock solid.......waste of time'
It was was always going to be about how it's suites each individual's life style and there's no right or wrong answer - just what the majority (have) vote(d).
1558 comments on the Perth NOW website for heaven's sake.
Interesting to read some of the comments in here, but I'm as bored as bat sh*t
over all the letters in the Worst Australian, T Shirts, etc etc.

So what do you do for the rest of the day ?
You can sleep well tonight Colin knowing you wont have to remember how to re-train that digital clock.
Think of the money Microsoft will save by deleting the daylight saving patch...

how great I don't have to
how great I don't have to keep resetting the sun dial twice a year.
