Well folks, making the trek from Groote, over to the Walker River on the mainland tommorow. Hoping to get into my first Barra action, has anyone on here by any chance fished the Walker before??

Yeh mate
It's a nice deep creek so make sure you pack some good deep lures. Reidy's Golburn Jacks do well over there as they are a 5m lure. Up the top of the creek is a rockbar so be mindful of your prop. You will see plenty of buffalo on the banks and plenty of crocs near the mouth. Be sure to chuck the crab nets in because there is plenty of muddies over there as well. There are barra on a rockbar just down from the mouth of the walker also if any of the Groote guys haven't already passed that spot on. If the weather blows up don't worry too much as you can island hop back to Alyangula. Have a good trip and take a heap of photo's to share with everyone.
P.S - if you stay the night anchor at the mouth as there are heaps of sandflies up the creek.
Fishing isn't a sport.....it's an institution.

He's saving those close fish
He's saving those close fish for me on the weekend. As usual, I'm at work while he gets to live it up fishing (lucky him!). At lease he'll bring me home some barra!

Great trip guys. Landed 4 nice barra in the seventies. 82cm was the best for the trip. Pics and story to follow, after i get rid of these sea legs and clean some fish!
