We where at tantas last
We where at tantas last weekend and the shire had a excavator there digging it out , havnt been back since but imagine it would be ok.Went south of the marina this arvo for a look and it was still pretty dirty in close, too dirty to dive 8 metres so ended up in 3 metres. . . . bluebone are flighty in the shallows :-(

Water in the Gulf isn't too
Water in the Gulf isn't too flash in close and a LOT of weed offshore, but good bait schools around it.
Tants wasn't too bad, but the wind chop sitted things up quickly. Didn't seem to worry the fish too much.

30m
Could see the bottom in 30m today south of Helby bank, crystal clear blue. Saw 1 free jumping sail, 1 big bull dolly and ended up with 2 spaniards (tried from 40-130m). Lucky raised 4 billes (2 sails, 2 marlin) heading to the rigs. Lots of weed around but the water clarity was great until the tide started to change and then it moved to messy green. Was out in the gulf yesterday and the water was green as (big tide movements) but having said that the bottom of the gulf (learmonth way) has been better, lucky and bigmagskip got a few jacks, trout and bluebone on spear down there on tuesday and the bait is starting to be easier to see along the beaches.

I've a generic question in
I've a generic question in regards to the trout around Exmouth, is it more common to produce trout in the gulf using plastics and lures than lets say long tanta's, or inside the reef, north or the muriuns etc??
Seems a ot of people mention spearing trout in the gulf, so curious to know if its as common to get them on rod and reel.
Cheers

Bodie, most people mention
Bodie, most people mention spearing them in the gulf because they are off limits to spearos inside the Ningaloo marine park (round tantas way). Also snorkelling inside the lagoon round the west side I'm pretty sure I've never seen a coral trout inside the lagoon, only the occassional Lunar tail and they are usually just in the channels out through the reef.
