Water temp (Rockingham)
Submitted by Francis on Mon, 2020-01-06 21:05
For those interested, went out fishing from Rockingham on sunday (nothing worth reporting unfortunately except plenty of tuna) I noticed that the surface water temp was up around 23 degrees in some spots.
My mind may have been playing tricks on me - but I’m sure I saw a bigger fin in the middle of a tuna bust up that looked like a Mackie? Didn’t look like a shark or dolphin.
So might be time to have a troll for mackies. Plan on giving it a good crack this year.

We were out of Two Rocks
We were out of Two Rocks fishing for Demersals noticed a lot of small bust ups and birds working, did notice acouple of times as the schools came within 50m of the boat waht looked like mackies streaking across the surface smashing fish.
Managed our bag limit of demersals and put in an hour of trolling but no luck.
Water temp up to 21.8

I saw most of the tuna around
I saw most of the tuna around 35-40m, probably 8-10 mile out. Few days earlier I only went out to 30-35 mtrs but they certainly weren’t as prolific.
Might of been timing? We got heaps between about 6-8am, then picked up a nice dhu bottom bouncing, then everything just shut down @ 08.30. Even the schools of tuna seemed to disappear after 08.30 until about 11ish, but they were a lot more skittish then.
