Bushman seems to work good
Bushman seems to work good for flys. Mate use to swear by a baby oil, detol mix for sand flys.
GO BLUES.

Bushman's a worry
I swore by Bushmans until I read the details on the side of a Bushman's roll on repellant. It advised that when disposing of the empty container, it needed to be put into two sealed plastic bags before going in the bin.
What does it contain that is dangerous to your garbage and whatever it is, what does it do to you? Haven't used it since although, that said, it was a few years back and they may have changed the chemicals used to make it.

I've used 'Bushman' the 3
I've used 'Bushman' the 3 times I've been up there, no bights at all.
Invest in a fly net to put over your hat too. They are only $9-$15. They even sell them at the Exxy Airport shop.

Fly net
Bought one at bluewater exxy (i'm not affiliated). think it only costs $5. At $15 you can one that's fixed to a floppy hat so you won't lose it. You definitely want one of these.
You also might want to get a "buff" - think that's what you call em. Flies will still land on your eyeballs but they won't get into your nose and mouth. The sandfly nets kinda limit you visibility.
If you have friends in the military ask them for some of what they use. It's strong enough to melt plastic like your watch strap when you start sweating.

repellent
I 2nd the detol and baby oil mix - works really well, especially for young kids.
the fly nets are very handy too, but the little flies will still make it through and try to land on your eye ball or fly up your nose - they must be thirsty hey...

Busmans Plus!
Bushmans Plus, the best stuff indeed and has 20% sunscreen also. Repeat doses and full coverage on exposed flesh when in sandfly area's a must!

The joy
Ahhhhh, the joy of multiple sandfly bites and hot, sweaty weather. Yep best avoided if possible.
Bushman's aerosol's work great but more importantly try and cover up with long sleeves and pants if possible.
