Week in review...

Take yourself back a week or so ago and tell me if you could have predicted this...
So first up we have a dude who surfs with a Great White,
then some dude decides to 'surf' a whale,
then said whale washes up on a popular beach that has the local council doing their best imitation of an episode of Benny Hill (should've just called the Japs in, it'd be Sushi by now),
then the Melbourne cup is won by a German horse with an English jockey and the favourite tragically dies after coming last.

You would of thought someone
You would of thought someone in charge says lets tow it far out to sea, because the freo doctor will blow it on shore.
dick on the radio news this morning saying they have to add up the costs to see how much it cost to take to the landfill.

7 news stated the bill to 100K or close to
So, if you were a scarboro rate payer (local council to pay for removal) how happy would you feel that your rates are being expended in this manner when a short tow by a decent size boat could and would IMO have saved a truck load of cash.

towing would not be that
towing would not be that cheap either, unless done by some shonkys.
You'd have to tow it a long way and a small tug may be $10-$30K a day. Each council would be hoping it landed on the next one along.
Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face...
The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.
Everyone's just winging it.

Bit cheaper than the $100k
Bit cheaper than the $100k minimum Rob it took to sort out that stinking mess. You have to wonder at the logic of some the beaurocrats in charge. Tow it out 50k's past Rotto and set a few charges to it.

Duck shoving on the whale carcass
Was a bit in the paper about it, initially they thought they weren't allowed to tow it away because its a protected specie but Commonwealth beaurocrat said its ok.
If towed away its fisheries and Freo harbour to pay for it [so they will let it drift ashore and save money] so once it hits the beach it becomes to local council's problem.
