Weld Inspections and Reports

 Hi All,

Is there any places in perth where I could get a weld inspection and certified report done for a boat.  Would anybody be able to help point me in the right direction?

Cheers

Seeing as i am really busy at work i had a quick google for ya, NDT inspection services pty ltd are in malaga. It sais they do aluminium weld testing, im sure they would be more than happy to help you and come up with a report for you. I've had nothing what so ever to do with them, I  just had some free time :) good luck

 Hey mate. Which welds are

Hey mate. Which welds are you talking about or are you refering to all of them? they are not subject to any particular construction criteria so it may not be that easy to gte a compliance report. If you don't mind me asking why do you need a certified (NATA) report?

I work for Applus RTD in Bibra lake. We specialise in NDT (none distructive testing) on mainly oil and gas pipe and other structual fabrication but if you give them a call they might be able to point you in the right direction. 9410 9300

I have just x-rayed some of the welds on my boat as I was having some issues but although I could see a lot of imperfections they don't neccarserilay pass or fail as there was no build specification.

If you are having similar issues send me a PM and I might be able to help out- (I can't prommise anything as I work away most of the year but I am heading home soon)

I was also wondering why you need the inspection, as mentioned above they are not normaly subject to inspection as far as i know.

Yeah agree, If it's an older boat I'd take it to a boat fabricator like Epic restos on here and he might take a look at it for you. It's more a visual inspection with boats and if there are any suspect welds you can get a three stage dye penetrant testing kit which anyone can pretty well use. I use it on any tanks I build plus a very low pressure test with soapy water.

new or old do agree was puzzeling me to why do you need to cert it, are you thinking of surveying it/charter? sea kem is right to save ya money and do your own dye test (but even that really is not 100% acquarite if you do not really know how to read the dye) but really a good visual should really tell you
