Gday All,

Well its been a great start to the year up here in the west kimberley with plenty of big girls landed and even more lost. Been a few spots fishing really well inbetween the pushes coming down from Fitzroy crossing giving the river a much needed flush out. Although it hasnt been a great wet season its just been enough to get things firing up.

 

I had a couple of good sessions off the bank. One afternoon headed to a spot which I havent been in about 2 years I reckon just hoping to get a line in the water and chillout after a hot day at work and within 5 mins of having a line in the water got smoked by a big fish into some snags.... Good start I thought, on the bite. Re-rig and line back in, drag up abit tighter than normal as there were plenty of snags where I was fishing. BANG nailed again, and again smoked... hmmm, Re-rig again, Bang... nailed again and then again... Lost 4 good fish, one of which was the biggest barra Ive ever seen jump. Wouldve been a good 120cm fish.... damn... So I throw the calcutta out again and tighten the drag even more thinking surely theres no more hanging here. Sure enough bang, its on again some big jumps and I thought it was a good fish, pushing the magic metre mark.... After some dirty tactics on my part really putting the hurt on this fish finally got it too my feet and on the brag mat it went just touching the metre mark... Sweet. 2nd metrery but just as good... 

 

 

 

 

 

Later on in the week went back with "Predatec" (member) in the boat and from memory we landed about 12 fish for the day... And again lost a big girl on the jump... Couple 80's and 90's.. Another good session in all... 


 

2 weeks later headed back and landed 5 nice fish off the back. Converted the 5 hookups which was good, with a bit of luck also... Got buried by the first two fish but magically got off... Another great session with a 65,80, 85,86 & 90cm landed...
