Hi everyone I am taking the children to Rottnest for the first time in the new week ( mid november ) and would really appreciate if some one can give me an idea on a few hot spots to fish that is also safe and what type of fish will you find in that area.
I Am a land based fisherman and love my beach fishing for mulloway, shark, salmon and tailor ( just so you know what the kids are normaly catching )

the main jetty at night
the main jetty at night usually has bread n butter stuff like herring, gardie and squid. Haven't fished there for over 10 years but... There's also the jetty near kingstown, good for similar but with less people. There's also the natural jetty (i think its called?) Its at the south end of the main bay (Kingstown area, google maps it) and is basically a reef ledge that sticks straight out., never fished there myself but looks good. Some biiig stingrays live in Thompson's so if you plan to put a big bait out...

Good advice
Good advice from Versus, the jetty is a great place to start. I'ts safe and you can get a lot of info from the people fishing there, i have always got a feed of herring and squid on the jetty.
Other than that the Natural jetty is awesome but not sure for the kids, try them out there at low tide with shoes on . If in doubt just jump on your bikes and follow the trails around the island. Stop on the hills and look for fish or just a good spot to have fun with the family. There are dozens of great spots to fish safely on any side of the island, so pick wind directions and head to the side you want.
P:S yeah use berly to get the fish to come to you, bread, pollard, pellets and oil are all good. If you use fish scraps or frames you tend to bring the big rays in and they can be a real pain in the butt to handle.

Thanks Grant
Thanks for that mate I was talking to a friend of mine today at my local tackle shop and he suggested that fishing the perth side beaches we have a chance at some real nice whiting.
The kids are only 3 closer to 4...
