What do you do when the weather sucks

Looks like the weather is going to be shit for offshore fishing this weekend, could not get out last sat so that's two weekends in a row of no fishing, gotta say that I am getting a little Edgie and need something to satisfy my fishing urge, might go crabbing, wondering what others do whilst the weather is shit.

There's this thing called landbased fishing, its really amazing, you can always find somewhere protected to fish. Weather never stops me fishing but when I choose to do something else it's either ride my dirt bike or work on it.

Same here! With all the new houses going up in Karratha, there is high demand for plants. We only have one nursery in town and they are the biggest rip off! I can nearly support my drinking habit by selling plants :)

If you ride send me a pm & we'll sort out going for a spin sometime. As for the bread & butter fish, it's all about what you target & how you go about it. Personally I get a real buzz out of 40-60cm tailor doing backflips over the reef with a lure hanging out it's gob or from trying to tame a rampaging 30+cm bream on 3lb line in among the snags. I'd much prefer to do that than catch anything from a boat. Horses for courses I guess.

So your a boatie snob. Seeing as you love my opinions so much I guess you would love to know that I think catching fish from a boat is cheating. Access to anywhere you want & all the electronics to tell you where the fish are. All you have to do is drive around until you see some good ground, drop a bait & then haul the fish up. No skill, no talent & no intuition. Now that I've just offended at lead 50% of the people on this site I'll stop commenting in your thread unless asked a question directly.

i don't drop a line until i find fish on the sounder. boats are for covering ground and with out a sounder it can be like fishing blind, its all about putting the odds in your favor. i still love my landbased fishing, its hard to beat a good fish from the hard stuff.

Wake up before the kids,
Wake up before the kids, grope and hope but only to hear the kids wake up..... have wife prepare panko crumbed whiting for breakfast, consume whilst watching recorded fishing programs. Swear loudly at the wind as you observe the trees across the road on your way to the car. Drive to a boat and or tackle shop and waste a salesman's time pretending to be genuinely considering purchasing a boat or reel that is way out of budget only to leave with a few brochures having spent nothing. Arrive home, swear at wind again as you go inside. If wife hasnt prepared lunch, swear at her then grab a beer and proceed to couch to continue watching fishing programs. Consume a delicious seafood lunch carefully prepared by the sorry wife whilst watching fishing programs. Request sexual encounter when kids have a nap. If refused, masturbate profusely infront of her until she gives in. 10 minutes later, grab another beer, ring mate, ask if he went fishing knowing the answer will be no, brag about getting a root, talk about the boat or reel that you are genuinely nearly bought today and the prospect of fishing tomorrow. Grab another beer, logon to FW and scan posts for anything interesting and check gumtree for boating or tackle bargains. Check weather forecast incase it may have changed for tomorrow. Grab another beer, go outside and swear at the wind. Tie dog bone onto appropriate sized combo and have a round of dog fishing. Refuse offer to go visit the inlaws from the mrs now that she and the kids are awake. Head back to couch with another coldie and watch more fishing. Fall asleep to only be woken by the wife and kids come home with fish and chips for tea. Consume, and wash down with a burbon and coke. Read motackle cataloge to kids before they go to bed. Recheck FW and weather forecast. Make another mix and steal remote from wife and turn on fishing shows to her disgust but fall asleep 5 minutes into it. Wake up 5 minutes later to find Home and Away is on. The words "Hey, I was watching fishing! Why did you turn it off?" leave your mouth only to be responded with that look from her like when you asked her if she would be in for a threesome with her younger sister. Close eyes, go back to sleep

funnest post yet absolute gold:) love to do a bit of dog or shed fishing. we have german shepherds so the fight is quite decent. i know i need to have a fish if it turns to shed fishing and making up runs and headshakes and know its really bad when i start talking to my self while shed fishing and swearing when the shed ahum i mean fish gets off. other than that watching fishing programs and dvds, and reading fishing mags. might have to try the "genuinely" interested in buying a boat or reel idea.
