What the Heck???

HI there everyone. was out in the boat fishing some shallow weedy banks the other day in Esperance and caught this fish i have never seen before... any ideas?
The top fin had two maybe three super sharp fine needle like spines that looked real nasty, and he was very shiney and a little slimey.
