How much you wana spend
I use a gary Howard LBG 15-24kg spin, saragosa 1800, 50lb braid, 80lb windon, 125-150lb wire, 9-0 to 13/0 hook,
Also a livefibre LBG 15-24kg overhead with a saltist50. Same line and all, it works fine for what I do.
Hope this is a starting point for you.

Reel
Penn 6/0 114h , good overhead , holds over 1000metres of line, can get them for $99 at some shops, they' do the job nicely,
Rod - something 8-12ft, 15-24kg with metal or alloy reel seats, JMO

you wont get sharks off
you wont get sharks off woodmans point now, occasional small gummy shark but nothing serious like tigers till summer months.

i would go with the live
i would go with the live fibre and tld reel mate very reliable and can pull in decent sharks. spool it with 50 pound, and as antsey mentioned sharks are very scarce at the moment due to winter wait until summer when they come back on the bite.
Good things come to those who bait
