Hi everyone, i heading to exmouth over the new year, and was chatting to a bloke last night regarding getting into some reds. he told me to head west side of islands bout 20 meters of water and sound around, not to sure about this sounds a bit shallow to me???

have caught them that shallow, but never of any size, think you might want to head a bit deeper, like about another 80m. the only problems with fishing deep up there are sharks and current, really need to keep drifts short and pick tide changes, otherwise fishing in deeper than 40m becomes pretty tiresome as you are feeding sharks or not getting bait to the bottom

we usually go for 60 to 80 mts of water for reds, we have found them sometime in good numbers at 40 mts but its a case of finding the schools on the sounder and stay with them as they generally stay as a pack, when the sharks move in find another spot

Plenty of hints on where to look in there.
