Whats the deal, Possession limit
Submitted by Alpha on Wed, 2020-01-01 18:32
If i plan a fishing trip over two days with 2 people on board, leaving on a Saturday, fish our way over to Rottnest, bag out with 2 dhuies and 2 other demersal, stay overnight at Rottnest (arrive well before midnight and stay more than 5 hours).
Im feeling confident. If I bag out again on the second day with 2 more Dhuies and 2 more demersal, so now i have 2 days worth of catch. What are the rules regarding this??
My understanding is I can have 2 days possession limit, but im confussed as to if the boat limit of 2 Dhuies applies irrespestive of the fact weve been fishing for 2 days? I know filleting at sea rules would apply. The fisheries website is confusing on this matter.

I think you can
Only bring 1 days catch whole. And 10 kilo of fillets. Also must have proof of overnight stay.? Not 100 percent

My read is that you can have two days bag of all fish except fish with a boat limit
don't think fisheries will like you coming home with 2 days worth of Dhuis

2 dhu
I’ve spoken with a couple of fisheries blokes about this. The dhufish limit is a boat limit and applies regardless of days offshore. Other demersals are a daily limit, hence can take 2 days worth. So for 2 days, you are allowed 2 shush, plus 6 other fish (with 2 people on board).

What ever happened to
Limit your catch, not catch the limit.
Example we catch 6 crabs between us (Mandurah) which provides a good feed for both of us, the bag limit is 20, it is my opinion that crabs taste the best the same day they are caught and don't keep well. So what's the point in catching more than you need.
Just my opinion and I am sure not every one will agree but to me it appears that a lot of people have the view that they are not going to be happy unless they come home with a bag limit of whatever it is they catch.

3 crabs each = 15 crabs in my
3 crabs each = 15 crabs in my family and I sling some (red crabs if course) to my folks and the elderly widower two doors down.
If I'm dragging the tub down to Mandurah and the crabs are on you better believe I'm taking my boat limit back to Perth. Different if you live down there or are staying the week though.

The limits aren't exactly
The limits aren't exactly generous. And you're never guarenteed a bag out anyway, throw the shiteful wind and weather on top you bet I'm gonna do my best to bag out on whatever.

Bag limit is bag limit
There for reason megladon. Try have 5 kids and 2 adults ( few years back now) .6 crabs wouldn’t get past my plate. Talking fish not yummy crabs. Agree with what your saying with crabs. Vac machines now days unreal . Fish stay fresh as day there caught. Nothing wrong with getting limits. Also nothing wrong with what your saying.
