what's with the seaweed?

Went fishing in Guilderton last night.
Whats with all the seaweed? It made fishing nigh on impossible! Did manage to catch a cuople of Estuar Cod though!

Can't have been all weed.

I have never seen anything
I have never seen anything like it. Did a bad cast and retrieved the line within 30 seconds. The line/hooks had over a kilo of weed attached. Every cast resulted in the lineand hooks being vcovered in seaweed making it impossible to detect any bites.
Went fishing off the beach a couple of kays up from Guilderton.
