What's the secret????????

OK, i know i have had advise and info from people on the site which i appreciate,
but what is the bloody secret to catch a pink snapper in the sound????????????
I have tryed all the usually places like abandoned jettys,d9,gravel patches,sulphar rock,harding rock.
At different times of the day and with all sorts of bait, i sit there for ages and not so much as a bite!
Am i the only person to not catch a snapper? What am i doing wrong?(NO COMMENT NEED FROM FISHY FINGER!).
I even tryed a spot a guy told me he catches them every time, dont know how true.
Any more info or advise would be great

Mixed Success
Rodrat, I've had mixed success off carnac (GI side), last week pulled only 1 35cm pinkie but on the 6/4 landed 11 all bordering on legal (realeased) but scored 1 48cm keeper. from what I understand, after a storm when a NW blows the pinkies are all over the sound. The weekend I caught the 11, was just after a storm, with no wind.

i was thinkin the same. i haven't put that much time in but we have never caught one in the sound. people keep saying how evsy it is and there every where and its no secret how to catch sound snapper, but im passed trying in the sound for snapper, ive had the same thing with the 5 fathom bank, the only thing we hav caught there is small dhues and sambos. never caught a kg out the back either

The secret is ,if i tell ya you have to keep it to your self ,Its being at the right place at the right time and thats all there is to it.How easy is that now go get some .

When u say off carnac u mean between the two or on the sound side of carnac? What sort of ground rough or sand?
What bait u using?

mmmm five fathom
I have fished the five fathom for years and never caught a thing but wrasse and sml cod? Is there a particular section that is better to fish?
