I've seen a few reels in my time and have used some excellent and not so excellent ones. One of my favourite reels was the SHIMANO BANTUM 500 and caught some big Pinkies in South Oz (Tapely Shoals). Well my old Man doesn't know that. What's yours and what fish did you catch with it?

Reels
I still have a Daiwa 7000a from my 12th birthday ('76) they were the top of the range reels back then and I have got an old Rosewood Alvey my old man got 2nd hand back in 1970 the Deep dish one it holds 900m of 15 kilo mono at the moment and I still fish it off the rocks with a 9 wrap whopper stopper Hal Harvey built up for my father back in the 80's for off Steep point running 24 kilo mono, use to winch big snapper etc straight up the cliffs before a noah got them , I don't know if their worth anything now but they are priceless for all the memories they bring back.
I have many old rods and reels and they all have sentimental value for me and my family , how do you price the combo you got your first 20kg plus Mulla on , it sits in my shed , I can't get rid of it even tho I don't use it anymore.
must be why I have so much shit in my shed.

Sentimental old bits.
I've got a gold Allcocks Ambidex that I brought when I was 16 (44years ago)!
It caught me my first 20lb Pike.
Its priceless to me tho would make $20 on a good day if the gods were smiling.
When my uncle was awaiting the birth of his daughter we went fishing to take his mind of it (and it did) when we packed up he gave me a float he'd made when he was a school boy, and I've still got that too!
And I REALLY regret giving away the self-made lure I got my first marlin on.
My advise is to keep it all you younger guys and marry a girl who'll love you for it.
