Where to buy thick nylon chopping board for transducer mount?
I'm mounting a new transducer on my tinny transom. The holes for the new transducer don't line up with the old holes and I'm not too keen to fill the old ones and drill new ones, so thought i'd go with the chopping board mounting block solution that I have heard of others using i.e a square piece of thick nylon chopping board mounted onto the bottom of the transom using existing holes (and some sikaflex) and then new transducer (and any future ones) can just be mounted onto the block.
I had a piece of standard, thin nylon board lying around but it is only about 10mm thick and didn't inspire much confidence when I put a test stainless self-tapping screw in.
Does anyone know where I can buy a nice thick (25mm plus I suppose) chopping board that I can use.
Thanks for any help.

There is a company in
There is a company in canning vale on the corner of magnet and bell streets(off bannister rd) that might be able to supply nylon that thickness, either that or buy a 10mm thick chopping board and and make several layers, running the bolts all the way through. Hope this helps. Paul.

King board
look for king board from somwhere that fits outboards it's not nylon
but a different type of plastic, it's what they use behind outboards to pack out, nylon is not ideal to get a screw to grip

Just find a plastics place,
Just find a plastics place, and they'll do what you want. I don't know where you are, but I got a good 20mm thick marine grade bit of plastic, cut to size, for a very reasonable price from Mandurah Plastics. I'm sure that you'll find a similar type of business close to you.

Nylon cutting chopping board sheets
Hi everyone,
I have sadly recently closed my chocolate business and have some sheets of nylon available which my husband and I were going to use for shelving. I have many different lengths available ranging from 3m/2.6m/2.5m/2m/1.5 and a few smaller pieces. They are approx. 10mm thick and approx. 40cm wide. Please write to me if you have an interest and I will be happy to discuss pricing and if you wish to come and view the sheets.

HDPE works great for what you are proposing
HDPE is what I used
I just recently did the same thing using HDPE, I could not find a supplier that would sell direct to the public, however I did pick up some scrap 12.5mm thick pieces. I have some spare which you could have Baldivis area if that is close for you. I found it great to work with as you can use drop saw, planer router on it just like wood. The only issue is that you cannot glue it as it will not react with glue so you have to screw it down. I used sikaflex as a sealant between it and the boat, to seal the old holes, but screws to hold it in place. Screwed transducer to mount and it works a treat.
It even looks pretty neat as a job on the boat.
