Which 10-15kg Overhead?

G'day guys bit out of my field of expertise here, chasing a 10-15kg overhead for 10kg line class game fishing for sails and small blacks, what's good and what's not?

nothing wrong with a Shimano

Thu, 2009-06-04 18:41

nothing wrong with a Shimano Backbone or Shimano Sabre rods. I have used them for years and can tell you they great tuna rods. If you want to avoid rollers, then you would also be wise to look at some of the older, but still bloody good rods made by Penn or even the Surecatch Professional Pro-series ( I hove two and swear by them for lighter game fish like mackies and tuna). The Penn pro-series that came with the bigger reels like the Penn Formula's are top sticks and totally under-rated.
Personally, I prefer my Shimano Tiagra 3050R's roller rods for my game rods, I also have a pair of older Backbones with roller tips only, great rods. (oops edited and corrected he 3050R, it's a Tiagra)

I havent got one but my father used them in kalbarri always before his around Oz gray nomad. When I was on the "Wizard" with him I thought "got to get me one of these". Compared with Tiagras etc I think they are the beez kneez.

alutecnos

Wed, 2009-06-03 09:45

i've got an alutecnos jigging stick, and it is the best  rod i have ever had in my hands.

i'm synonomous for snapping rods, so i was stoked to see how this puppy performs. matched with a torsa 30 and 50lb fireline (80lb anything else), i've anchored 8m boats in 80m water, leaning every bit of my 100kg frame into it, and i'm the one that comes off second best, on numerous occasions.  nearly put my back out on a HUGE shark in exmouth 2 months ago.

i know its not a trolling rod like you want, but it does speak good things for their rods, and are worth every bit of the money you'll pay.

Exactly what i was thinking

Exactly what i was thinking Billcollector. I've several Ian Miller rods and I could not fault them. Just nice, well balanced rods.

Cheers Mick
