Which handheld gps?
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Tue, 2010-09-21 12:08
Just wondering if someone could give me a heads up on a good hand held colour or B/W GPS with Australian (WA really) contours on it? I probably need it to have the capacity to hold about 2000 marks.
Cheers,
Adam

I have the Magellan
I have the Magellan explorist XL, bloody brilliant, albiet bigger than most the Garmins. But hey a nice big screen on a handheld isnt to bad :) Dont think they do them anymore though have newer ones out. For my basic handhelds also have a Magellan Explorist 100 and a Garmin Etrex. Both dont have any maps on them but are good enough to find your way to waypoints.

If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

yep
Contours are pretty important for me, having had a 72e garmin I really want to go the next step and have the charts as well - especially for billfishing.

Nothing I have experience
Nothing I have experience with, but if you visit this link; <click>
Look across to where it says "Compatible With", and it lists a few models.
Actually there are 10 ways to find them on that site, you can also click on Handhelds > map.

how did you go Adam?
Did you end up purchasing one? I've been looking at the Garmin Oregon/Dakota style GPS and GPSMAP 600 series but $ and would then need to purchase maps. Anyone that needs maps for a Garmin, check out website called shonkymaps (shonkylogic).
Fishin for a feed and fun.
