Whitehills Tips / Reports
Submitted by Craggles on Thu, 2009-11-05 16:12
Afternoon all,
It's likely I'll be doing an all nighter at whitehills this weekend and was wondering if anyone had been there recently, anyone had any luck?
Last time I was there I got told to head about 10km south of the main enterance, anyone got any other suggestions of where to go down there?
Cheers

Conditions looking good for Sat Night
I will be doing an overnighter on Sat Night, after being out in the Tanami Desert for the last three weeks the water is going to look fantastic! Winds and swell not looking too bad at this stage. I usually start looking for gutters around 4 kms south of the entrance.
Will be in an old white trayback Hilux (1988 model) with red n grey decals on the side. Say G'Day if your goin past! My Bro was down there late last week and got a good Mulla - more toward Preston though.
Cheers!

I was taken to spot that was about 10 km from the beach
entrance. There was some small rocky/reefy bits right on the shore line where we stopped. It was a pretty good tailor spot.

From where you are actually
From where you are actually allowed to camp? I thing the sign at the entrance says “no camping”. Or is it kind of “recommendation” as long as you don’t make any troubles?

Weed was moderate, we just
Weed was moderate, we just moved around a bit until we found somewhere decent. Think we did most of our fishing at the 9km mark.
No fish during the night, whiting in plague proportions, couldnt get ourselves a feed of herring.
Come the morning, got ourselves two tailor, one went 38cm, the other went 47cm which I was pretty happy with, biggest I've managed so far.
Tailor fillets for dinner tonight.

Yeah we didnt end up
Yeah we didnt end up making it down this weekend. Hopefully soon tho. We ended up fishing north of the alkimos last night... same same an abundance of whiting not to many herring around. Tailor didnt come on the bite till just after sundown ended up landing 8 all over the 40 mark. They werent too agrressive on the bite and didnt stick around long either. Good little session anycase.
