Nah, Poppers and lures are no good especially in Mandurah. Only thing that works down here are whole mulies on ganged hooks. (big gangs of small hooks)

Lures and poppers only work North of Mandurah. (tsk tsk)

Whiting on artificial

Sat, 2013-10-05 08:58

As mentioned they are a great target fish for sure on artificial and we use stickbaits & poppers.

We use stickbaits more often ie subsurface & surface stickbaits like Berkley, Jaz, Bassday brands etc. We do also use poppers also which are effective like Rebel, Zerek, Gladiator, River2sea brands etc

Roll on the warmer months and clean waters

Anyone got stories of northern whiting on poppers.

This video was made last year by a friend of mine, the finish of the video is just classic.  Watch the trebles, they are sharp.  But in short a very successful session of whiting on poppers.

Ouch!!!

Looks like the best way to work the lure is to "not" work the lure.  just a constant retreive?

Hate trebles. First thing i do is swap them for singles. I reckon i get a much better hookup and a solid hold on the fish with singles too. Crushing the barbs also is a good idea on those little hooks. So damn sharp and sticky.
