Why upgrade to a Sustain from Stradic CI4

Hi Wreckers
Just an opinion.
Cant see why you would pay ~$150 extra for a slightly lighter, one ball bearing extra reel from Stradic CI4 to a Sustain HG. The handle on the Stradic "feels" better in my opinion as well.
Am I missing something here.
Lost a rod/reel combo overboard with a Sustain 2500 (Not happy Jan!!) and wanting to replace that, and add another light weight whiting popper combo to the list. Doing that with Sustains and quality rods prob ~$1300, Stradic CI4's with identical rods ~$1000.
Cheers
Neels

the sustain has 8 bearings, a titanium coating on spool lip, an all metal worm gear osilation and x protect. the xprotect is very good at stopping water intrusion,
stradic ci4 has 6 bearings no coating on spool lip and nylon worm gear, defenitly not as water resistant.
whether this is worth the extra $ who knows
also the sustain in larger sizes has standard carbon drag..... not sure of the smaller sizes .....someone else may know
But FWIW you would be better off with felt drag for that size as it will be smoother.

For a 3rd option, I've got 1000 Rareniums on both my bream/whiting popping combos are they're a great little reel and I nailed a decent salmon on my 1-2kg combo but you'll have to look around as I believe they've been discontinued. Only drawback on them is the 5.0 gear ratio so you have to wind like a madman when your working poppers fast.

Light Reels
I had this toss up not too long ago but ended up going with a Pflueger Patriarch and have not looked back. It cops a beating out on the yak with spray etc. but is still going perfectly. I couldn't jusity spending more money on a slightly better quality reel that was heavier. Just think about how many Ci4's you see compared to Sustain's, probably speaks volumes about which reel is a better choice

Got a sustain a few weeks back and don't regret it at all.

As mentioned I have (had)
3, but looking to replace 1 just cant see the value. In my opinion now its sits in nowhere land between a Stradic CI4 and Twinpower (starting 4000 size), Exsense (only in 3/4000 size)and Stella. Problem I have is to rough on my gear to go Stella and the other 2 higher rated reels (TP and Exs) are to big.
Have personally solved this by getting 2 CI4 2500's on Loomis rods (wow have they come down in price compared to a few years back) because I still love cork handles.

For what it's worth I fell
For what it's worth I fell into a reef hole carrying my stradic 2500 ci4 which saw it immersed for about 10 seconds as I tried to get out. I stripped it when I got home and there was no water in the main body of it.

Yeah I stripped a stradic
Yeah I stripped a stradic 4000fj down that has seen a lot of salt spray etc and the internals were salt free.
