Wire Trace

Had a few toothie's over the past week, line being chewed, snapped and so on, every time we get them close, bang goes the line in some way.

just last night, the Mrs lost a foot long shark, got it with in 2 feet away from me ready to grab its tail and she lost it, couple off guys of the FWA forum were there with us.

But anyway, what wire trace would you use, I've got some live bait hooks, do you use just the one hook on the end of the trace or can you attach two hook, 2nd hook to side up and down for different size live fish ?

Or just used heavy mono like 60lb

Are you fishing from the boat, or from the shore (the small shark seems like from the shore)? Also, what trace are you using at the moment, and with what main lines?

use a short length of nylon

use a short length of nylon coated multi strand if your using livies as they can swim around better with it .. if using dead baits then single strand is stronger . . even light multi strand should be ok with 60lb being thick enough for the small/mid range sharks ..if you keep getting pinged then use a 3m casting leader of 60lb mono to stop the tails rubbing on the braid .. use a GT knot as a join if possible so your casting doesnt suffer too much.

hope that helps ..Clint
