wittecarra this time of year?

hey guys,
whats fishing like at wittecarra creek in kalbarri these days..
i grew up going to kalbarri every summer and fishing there (used to do the walk until my parents upgraded to the 4wd.)
i would love to get back up there summer 08/09, if i plan it this far out i *may* be able to go!

For the last 5 years I have
For the last 5 years I have been up there for classic comp at the end of Feb.
I have always managed a fish wittecarra each time but never done better than a few tailor to 55cm. The odd mullaway is still caught arround town during the week I am there so they are a possibility.
I did have every live bait I ballooned out past the breakers on an easterly chomped in half last year but I suspect small sharks ( half moon chomps) rather than mackeral ( cut straight thru) but I did see many a mack jumping 100 meters out.

just looked on google earth,
just looked on google earth, there is no sand spit in the photo!
must have been taken when the murchison flooded, or does it not exist anymore?

It dosnt exist anymore mate.
It dosnt exist anymore mate. The channel is a lot deeper now so seems to have been for the better as my sorces tell me anyway. Apparently the river is now in plague proportions of soapy Mullaway wich is good to see. That river is absolutly amazing with the posabilities of fish that have been caught in there. Ive caught some clasics myself.
