Woody Boat Ramp Car Break In
Submitted by gib77 on Mon, 2015-07-13 17:21
Left car overnight at Woodmans Point ramp Sunday while wife and I went fishing, then stayed overnight at Rotto.
Key barrel smashed in, car torn apart, didn't actually take much. I know this isn't uncommon, but just reporting really. Might have to think about joining CPBC, next door, about $450 a year though I think. Pretty exy, any members out there wanna comment on whether they reckon it's worth it?

Filleting tables.
Cheap beer.
Ice available whenever you want.
most of all peace of mind of having a car (and trailer) to go back to after fishing.
Cant really remember, think it costs double the first year. (nomination fee)

Hearing more and more of
Hearing more and more of this type of thing..........not cool at all.
I leave my car and trailer in remote locations for days on end and have not had a problem as yet, but have came back to see the cars around mine with smashed windows. It could be just good luck but I do have a theory.
I leave my car totally empty then open the centre console, glove box, ash tray etc so they can see there is nothing in there. When I say empty I mean not even a bit of paper like rego papers etc.
Should not have to go to these lengths but I think half the time they are just after some quick cash.
Feel for you, must have been a crap feeling coming back after a good trip to face that!!

For the first year it's $437 one off nomination fee and then $437 for the year so total $874
Then every year its $437
Worth joining. Safe parking when at rotto for a few nights, help to launch the boat, wash down boat, can leave the boat in the pen if you need to work on the trailer etc
If you need a nomination, I'm happy to help.

Hi Diver albie
my late husband was a member since 1982 and he loved the Club, was on the committee, bar roster. Apart from what some of the fellas have mentioned you can also have parties their, hire the club rooms, for 21st birthdays, weddings, birthday parties, christenings etc for a fee. If interested have a great social commeittee that puts on great nights.
You can stay at the club with your caravan, tent or some members stay in their boat, showers, tiolets, bbq, fridge, toaster, micro wave, sink for up to 2 weeks, just let the secretary know, no charge, just keep the place clean and tidy after use bbq etc. So many faciliteis compared to other clubs. Think the CPBA is the only club up and down the coast that has the parking, launching (free) compared to other clubs that you have to pay a fee each time you launch/retrieve.
Also for a seperate fee their is a hard stand for your boat, must have insurance etc to leave your boat on the hard stand.

When I lived up that way I joined the group, great bunch of people very sociable and when they get to know you they (most of them any way) quite willingly shared knowledge about spots to try etc.
Good to go out in the boat and have the good feeling to know that when you get back your car and trailer are going to be ok.
There used to be a bosun on hand to give advise with launch and retrieve, makes sure there are no clown types at the ramp.
Fees, how much is piece of mind worth.

Consider the financials
Average insurance excess is at least $200 - $250 and more often higher than that - make a claim and the NCB is history pushing your premium up for not just next year but potentially a couple of years just to get back to the same level you were - CPBA membership very quickly makes sense as being both economically sound and more importantly gives you peace of mind.

+1 on CPBA
Secure parking, pens available, the new cleaning station is excellent. The ramps with concrete floating jetties are much better than the ones next door.
Thor, the bosun, is great - will help you launch/retrieve if required, and has plenty of good advice and tips on boat handling.
Worth every cent.
And with all of the above it virtually eliminates the percentage of idiot boaters at the ramp.
