Worth a try... Carpentry Apprenticeship

Hi all.

For those of you who dont know me, my name is Daniel Bell (Belly) Im 26, a MAD keen fisherman and for the last 3.5 years I have worked as a Crayfisherman out of Two Rocks.

About 6 months ago my girlfriend and I decided we would do some travelling, unfortuneately for me this ment I had to quit my job and my role was quickly filled by someone else.

Now I am back and looking for work Im hopeing to start an apprenticeship in Carpentry, to get a trade behind me and expand my knowledge and love for woodworking. I have around 3 years experience in fixing and formwork carpentry, although stupid me I never started an apprenticeship at the time. I believe I would be a great asset to someone looking for an apprentice as im very handy on the tools and also an extremely reliable hard worker. Even more so now that I have travelled and Im 100% focused on bettering myself and completeing this apprentiship. I also have a number of tickets including White card, EWP, Forklift, Scaffolding, Dogging, Personal and Material Hoist and will pass all drug/alcohol and fitness tests if needed.

I live in Ocean Reef, I have a current drivers licence and my own transport. Ideally I would like to work North of the river but at this stage im open to any offers.

Ok so now the reason I have posted this here.... Firstly Im not lazy or trying for the easy way out by asking on this site.   I am but well aware that Im going to be dropping pay quite cosiderably so Im hopeing that I could atleast find someone who has a common interest in fishing, so along with learning the trade I can make a new fishing buddy and have some good times along the way.

So heres hope that there is a fellow fishing nut that needs a reliable experieced person to take on as an apprentice. Of course I will also be looking outside of this website but I thought this would also be worth a try.

Cheers heaps for reading.      My number is 0419 0414 83 if you could possibly help Im sure you will be extremely happy with your choice in having me as an employee.

I did the exact same thing

I did the exact same thing when I was looking for my apprenticeship and in the interview I asked my now boss if he liked fishing he said yes and I said I'll take the job. That was 6 years ago we go for a fish every now and then common interest goes a long way in a working relationship. good luck to you mate

thats certainly one of the better job requests on here and different from the past ones some of which have been quite "face palming"

Good luck with it Dan, a trade will be the best thing to have under your belt.

Depending on the guy you did your 3 previous years with, it may be a possibility to get some credit towards your apprenticeship.

Im not sure of the process these days as it is vastly different now to when I did my apprenticeship but it may be worth pursuing?

If I was in the trade I would be impressed.

Good luck and in my field I do see a few people and will keep my ears peeled for you.

Anything is possible.

Try around building sites

Might be worth a drive around new housing estates where you can have a chat with chippies/roofies and see if you can start as a helping hand.

Cheers heaps guys I was a bit hesitant to post something on here as I have also seen so really weak efforts of people trying to find jobs, but I'm glad I did now and as I've said it was more so to find a job with someone who has general interests rather then just a job. Thanks for the encouraging words everyone..

Rob thanks for the advice hopefully my previous work can count for something I will look into it for sure..

Thanks Crasny1  if you hear of something and would like to pass it on that would be great..

Wes F thanks also for the advice that was my go to if I couldn't find anything threw the avenues I'm trying at the moment..

Cheers Belly
